Episode 43 - Clipstro

This amazing app enables you to shoot strobe effect videos in a matter of seconds. Simply record up to 5 seconds of video and it will automatically convert it into an motion sequence video that will blow your mind.
Tips for Getting the Best Results
1) Keep the camera as still as possible. In cases where the camera needs to follow an action, move the camera slowly and no more than 45 degrees.
2) Keep the background as simple as possible, such as a wall with one solid colour
3) Because actions performed in place will overlap, objects and actions being recorded should move across the video frame. #pegeektv #physed #education #pegeeks #learning - download at www.thepegeek.com/clipstro

Episode 41 - QR Stopwatch

Recently Kevin Tiller shared this powerful little timing app that utilises QR Codes to start & stop a timer. Essentially all you have to do is hold the QR code in front of the scanner. The app will then automatically generate your name and a new individual stopwatch will be started for the QR Code you scan. If you scan the code again, the timer stops. It’s also possible to resume the same watch again. Once all timers have finished you can generate an email report that contains the rankings. Download www.thepegeek.com/qrstopwatch

One of the best features is the apps QR Code generator tool which you can use to generate the QR Code ID cards which you can then print and save. Each QR code is embedded in a student ID card in a credit card size #education #learning #pegeeks #physed #pegeektv

Episode 38 - CoachNote

CoachNote is an exceptional app that allows users to record set plays and game strategies for a variety of team sports. The coach simply drags the icons onto the screen to represent the players and can then record the movement of the players and the ball as they narrate. This app fits perfectly into any Games Sense or TGFU class, where students are responsible for developing deeper understanding of the why behind the sports they play. #pegeeks #physed #pegeektv #education #learning - download at http://georiot.co/EfB

Episode 35 - Zombies, Run

At the start of 2012 a truly superb augmented immersive app was launched called , Zombies, Run. This app takes you on a wild adventure by immersing you within the story of Runner 5. See the video for more about Runner 5 and his mission to help the Abel Township survive after a Zombie Apocalypse. Since sharing this app with a number of teachers around the world, I have been pleased to hear of its integration within PE Programs with most using it with students as part of an iPod Touch roll-out. However recently an idea occurred to me that, although simple, makes it even easier to use the app with students.

At present the app is targeted and works best with individuals listening to the story and music through their own headphones and devices. However not all schools operate under a 1:1 model for mobile devices, so it could work equally well with the app connected to a set of external speakers, like those shown in the video. Your students, inside your gym or outside on an field, could follow along and complete the mission as if it was via their own device interacting with the story as the norm. You could take it even further by mirroring your device with an Apple TV unit to a larger display, so students can see the items they have collected and the metrics of the activity. This would then allow the device to be actually moving throughout the activity, shared between students as the audio would be wirelessly streamed to the speakers. - download at http://georiot.co/328s #pegeeks #pegeektv #education #learning #physed
